Confirmed from Mill Brook Preserve Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mill Brook Preserve Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (137 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“Beautiful woods surrounding the trail, little waterfalls and tiny sandy beaches along the river makes this spot a nice little hike with the dog.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“This secluded and hilly forest valley is peaceful and feels remote while just minutes from Maine’s largest urban center.”

💲Cost: Free! 🪴Indoor/Outdoor: Outdoor ♿️ Accessibility: Not accessible 🚫 🚘 Parking: There is a very small but free lot. If it gets full there are other trailheads for the same trail system or you could park on the road (I think. I don’t think there signs against this) 👶🏽 Child-friendly: Yes!

★★★★☆ — Erica , May 2024

This is a very lovely place to walk, but the access is too difficult for anyone who is mobility impaired. There is a small parking lot, board for information and a trail that is marked that runs thru the woods and along the beautiful Brook.

★★★★☆ — Laureen , Jul 2023

I found this trail easy to access with 4 parking spaces at the entrance of the road where the trail starts, and helpful signage. A little steep at the entry, and caution needed on the bridges but a wonderful little hiking trail for me and the dog.

★★★★★ — T , Aug 2017

Great trail for hiking without leaving the city. Lots of hills with some cool switchback trails. Probably doable by mountain bike if you're experienced. Tons of fish in the small brook!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

⛰️ Hills / elevation 14 mentions

“I took a baby in a carrier and it was quite challenging in some parts as it’s steep but children who have a moderate hiking skill set would do well.”
