Confirmed from Montour Woods Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Family-friendly area for hiking, mountain biking and trail running, plus a cave.
What runners say about Montour Woods Conservation Area
“All the paths are well maintained, just be careful after rain.”
“Thank you for the Beautiful bridges that were built in the area that made it easy to access the area.”
“Great to take your dog,let him run threw the water and on the trails .”
“caves, little waterfall, nice trails with (fairly) good signage, footbridges where needed, streams to cross, pine and hammock as well as deeply leafy, green dense forest.”
“Easy hike, not many hills at all.”
Beautiful fall hike on Meeks Run trail. Roughly 2 miles from start to finish. Easy hike, not many hills at all. To minimize exposure to mud, a wooden walkway was built with nonslip mesh. I was thankful for this as there were a few muddy spots so without the walkway it would have been a lot less enjoyable in spots.
This trail is lovely!! A little hidden gem in Pittsburgh. It is deceitfully bigger than you would expect, too. I think the whole loop is about 1 mile, but there are many off shoots to the main trail that make it fun and adventurous to explore. There is a stream, a few bridges, a really neat cave!
Great trails that were in great shape. Awesome place for an adventure close to Moon and Robinson!
I parked at the nearby Montour Trail parking lot and walked over which was quick and stress free. The trails were largely well maintained and pretty overall. There are plenty of trails and a good amount of variety The former Nike Missile Site was cool. I saw a raccoon, squirrels, and plenty of chipmunks.
