Confirmed from Moon River at Downing Piers' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Moon River at Downing Piers
“Though mostly flat, it is also a beautiful and fun biking trail, our favorite trail to mountain bike in the Savannah area.”
“It isn't well marked, but if you just follow along the river it's quite easy to navigate.”
Easy winding trail with great views. The only drawback was that I picked ticks off myself and the dogs for hours afterwards.
This is a nice hiking and biking trail. It isn't well marked, but if you just follow along the river it's quite easy to navigate. The trail is wide and footing is good. Most people seemed to be running or on bikes. Nice views of water and trees and wildlife.
Beautiful marshland hiking trail. Well maintained and cleared. The trail branches off a few times, but it isnt too difficult to find your way back. The recommended path is staying right to keep close to the water.
Download and use the AllTrails app! And bring your Deep Woods bug spray. It’s worth the hike but it’s easy to get very very lost, even for experienced hikers. Trails are not marked and there are tons of little side trails. The loop shown on AllTrails is easily an 8-9 mile loop.

“The trail is narrow at points, keep your dog leashed, not much passing room, could see it being a problem if your dog isn't friendly with other dogs 3.”
