Confirmed from Whitemarsh Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Trail-packed nature preserve. Features multiple paths for walking, jogging and biking.
What runners say about Whitemarsh Preserve
“A great place to go for a bike, jog, or walk with the dogs.”
“Nice place to take a cool, shady walk in the woods.”
“Great place to walk, walk the dogs, bike ride.”
It is now my FAVORITE place in Savannah! Take any trail, get lost in the dense woods (not in a scary way) and it leads to the open ground. It's the prettiest spot! Surrounded by woods on all the sides, it's unreal!
Fantastic biking trails. Single track, double track, and a few minor stunts. The trail markers can be very confusing and these tracks aren't on All Trails for some reason - I suggest using the MTB app; they have created a route that utilizes several of the trails at once and adds up to about 5 miles. Bring some DEET!
Nice set of trails on Whitemarsh Island. Great spot to walk the dog. Remember when you venture off the main paved trails, you will definitely encounter mosquitoes. Be sure you have applied bug spray! Parking was limited to a very narrow strip on the south end of the preserve.
Nice place for a walk or ride. Cool bike trails with obstacles. I enjoy birding here as well. See and hear less common birds here which is cool. There is a paved path as well as a wide, easy gravel path. Plenty of dirt trails! One star removed due to frequent off leash dogs and inconsiderate cyclists.

“You can loop around using the drift path and then the other side has a small loop so all and all a good place to get outdoors and exercise”
“Lovely paved, gravel, & mtb trails connecting to neighborhoods, and the nearby YMCA trail loop.”
“Cons: lack of parking signage, bugs (we were outside so obviously prepared, but the bites were still excessive), and noise pollution.”
“Lovely paved, gravel, & mtb trails connecting to neighborhoods, and the nearby YMCA trail loop.”
“Nice place to take a cool, shady walk in the woods.”
“A few features but nothing too technical and every feature has a bypass for the weak hearted (Again,,, LOL).”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
