Confirmed from Morgan Conservation Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Sprawling outdoor area offering dog-friendly hiking trails with waterfalls, a creek and a meadow.

What runners say about Morgan Conservation Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (105 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“I hiked the primary trail and though there was no waterfalls since we haven’t had a good rain nonetheless it was beautiful.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“First time visitors- it's quiet, beautiful, peaceful and interesting.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“I enjoyed hiking here, there are mostly easy trails, although the climb up the hill may be more difficult for some.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 4 mentions

“My family including my dog love this place for a quick hike, and cardio.”

This is not an easy hike. There are areas of trail that are very steep with loose rocks, uneven paths, roots and little invisible stumps sticking out of the ground. One steep incline even made the dog out of breath!

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO. This is a pretty decent place to go for a hike. There are extensive trails, featuring waterfalls, foliage, and interesting features. Be prepared with proper footwear, though, as this hike is slightly more advanced then many in the area.

217 acres of hiking trails in Oldham KY. This park was once the property of the Morgan family for over 100 years. A cattle and tobacco farm, the park itself is 252 acres and was part of the much larger farming operation. The park was acquired in 2003 and sits adjacent to land that is still owned by the family.

★★★★★ — Richard , Oct 2019

Such a hidden gem! Not necessarily well-known. Generous parking. Pretty extensive trail system with the occasional waterfall and wooden bridge. Charming. Quietly scenic. Lightly used -- never crowded. Cell service can be quite spotty -- 911 should work, though, if you have an emergency. Happy exploring!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 17 mentions

“Waterfalls, geological outcroppings, and even an old burial site that was owned by the Abbott family and dating back to the mid 1800s.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
