Confirmed from Mosquito Creek Lake's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nearly 2,500 acres with trails, camping & hunting, plus a large lake for boating & fishing.
What runners say about Mosquito Creek Lake
“The shower houses were always clean even though water pressure was low and there were a couple cold showers over the Labor Day weekend.”
“The views are beautiful, especially if you enjoy nature, wildlife, and bird watching.”
“Campers in my opinion always seem to be happy calm and peaceful people.”
A trip up to Mecca isn’t complete if I don’t stop & admire the lake. Though it was rough waters & a very chilly day it is still beautiful. I’ve grown to love our gray sky days & embrace them with acceptance. They may be dismal but they cause me to love a blue sky day even more.
I can't believe that I've lived so close to such a beautiful place for almost a year. Sprawling water front views, ample camping spots, picnic tables and outside grills tucked into picturesque alcoves, a large dog park, RV hook ups, a busy marina that's spaciously bustling, concession stores & stands, numerous play…
Very nice park run by some nice people. We picked a spot that the map showed was on the water, but it was definitely not. The lake has receded a ton and it was just a swampy field near us. The lake was a 1/8 mile up the road. Not bad... But not what was shown.
Absolutely loved this campground. Took my grandkids there, and they had a great time. Imagination playground, storybook trail are really close. Playground, campsites were clean, fishing (they caught 6 fish each), nature path, and the Animal show were great! Definitely would go back

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
