Confirmed from Mount Konocti County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mount Konocti County Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (25 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“the trail up is a little steep in parts but the view from the top is absolutely stunning.”

Good hike for a workout that’ll make you feel amazing the next day! You have to go on a gravel road for two miles and it can be slippery a bit on the way down, I had to take a ton of baby steps. Worth it though! Bathroom at beginning and two miles up. Bring water and a snack.

Back in the 1950’s probably 57, my two brothers and I went with a neighbor to spend a 4th of July at a cabin they owned on Clear Lake. While there us boys, ages 11 to 16 decided we would cross the lake in a boat and climb Mt. Kenocti and spend the night up there.

★★★★★ — Howard , Apr 2023

Wonderful scenic mountaintop hike next to Clear Lake. Hike is mostly along fireroads, which are easy to follow and well signed. Nice new benches, interpretive signs, and bathrooms all along main route to top. Vegetation ranges from drier brush and pines, to moist laurel and mossy oaks, to orchards around homestead.

Absolutely love how the beginning the path glitters with quartz on a sunny day. Great view at the top! Was also lucky enough to get engaged here 💕

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 19 mentions

“Not going to lie the beginning of the hike was hard lol but it gets better as you go but definitely worth the walk and the view!”

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
