Confirmed from Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (339 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“One of the most beautiful places to go walking and see many native birds, small wildlife, beautiful fall foliage and the water.”

Loved this paved trail. Awesome with a stroller or a bike. We parked on the street. Some advise to park by memorial park. You do have to cross sunrise highway but there is traffic light. The road mostly shaded, though not the whole path. I went on a very hot, 85F day, and it wasn't bad .

Excellent trail with numerous paths , easy and calm , some of them asphalted for bikes and walking people. Taking the not asphalted paths is great! You’ll forget you’re surrounded by the city. Every lake and stream give you the opportunity of a nice photography .

I love that we can get absolutely lost in the woods here. The main trail is great but it's even better to run around the small foot trails. My dog and I can spend hours here. We have found some cool things in the woods here too. This park is well maintained and surrounds a beautiful lake with geese and swans and ducks.

Fun trail for a Green Day out, easy to walk, near water and full with vegetation and trees. Plenty of parking, and close to the road, yet feel far from everything.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
