Confirmed from NBRT Happy Valley Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about NBRT Happy Valley Trail Head

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (30 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Very scenic trail we rode ebikes for 12 miles out and back.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“The trail was peaceful and it’s serenity inspired me to run/jog better than I ever had.”

I started running pretty regularly a few months ago and I found this trail while hanging in the area. I usually run/jog 2-3 miles but I found myself uniquely inspired by the scenery here. I started my jog on the trail opposite the horse farm.

★★★★★ — Ryan , May 2021

We saw more wildlife - deer, turtles, snakes, heron - than people on this section of trail. It was lush and beautiful.

★★★★★ — Diane , May 2022

This is the Best place to park. The Davisville entrance is an excellent place to avoid a lot of houses near the trail.

★★★★★ — Matthew , Nov 2021

The North Bend Rail Trail is great! Happy Valley Trail Head is the western terminus of the trail. It is over 70 miles long and ends outside of Clarksburg, West Virginia. One day, the trail will extend into Clarksburg. The North Bend Rail Trail is part of the proposed Parkersburg to Pittsburgh Trail (P2P Trail).

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 7 mentions

“The farm views and lush trees made me forget I was even exercising.”
