Confirmed from Neuse River Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Wonderful trail and views along the river !! Great trail for taking a stroll, bike ride, or getting your daily run/jogging in!! Took my friends here on their last vacation day before heading back to Germany.

Love this trail, its beautiful, quiet, and very long (27.5 Miles!) so you are not just walking in circles. It runs along the scenic Neuse River and connects to several auxiliary trails as well. Next time, I want to try kayaking!

★★★★★ — Mark , Apr 2025

34 miles of paved, well kept biking and hiking trail. It doesn't matter if you're riding or walking. Either way you're going to have a good time with some great views. Benches every so often to rest and river access as well.

★★★★★ — J , Jun 2023

This is a great trail for all. Cycling, running, walking everything is possible. Not difficult. Picnic places are available. Trail is pretty much shaded with trees on the both sides. Certainly recommend this trail.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
