We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of New England Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about New England Trail
A really well maintained and marked trail in most sections. As a hiker though I like to plan my day from point A to B but there is no shelter or campsite system in place. I suppose one could spend a $150 on motels and rides but most of us in the hiking community cannot do this.
Great hiking trails. Lots of wildlife with a lake and river along part of it. This trail continues to MA and further.
Very easy to hike trail with some rocky spots. Lots of Mountain Laurel and a few gurgling streams. Bring bug spray!
One of my favorite places to go for an all day hike. Once you go a mile into the trail, it's very peaceful with very little hikers, most of the time there is nobody else.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
