Confirmed from Timberlands' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Timberlands

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (68 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Nice mildly challenging trails through beautiful woods and bogs!”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“Nice, easy rambling trails, clearly marked and away from the road.”

What a hidden gem. I've lived 3 mins away from here for most of my life and never went until recently. Driving by, doesn't look very appealing, but the trails are awesome, and it's not too busy; very laid back. Now me and my dog go here every weekend, one of our favorite spots.

Nice shady trails on a hot sunny day. The trails are marked well with white, blue. Red, and green bars on the trees.

★★★★★ — James , Jun 2019

Beautiful area. It's a preserve with over 550 acres of forest. Lots of hiking trails and a stream meanders through it. I don't know that your can camp although I don't know if anyone would stop you if you did. A small parking area at each of the trailheads.

Pretty big network of trails. I like to do a loop around the Upper Guilford Lake which is a little under 3 miles. Overall the terrain isn’t too bad but there are a few small hills and rocky parts.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 3 mentions

“If you have dogs there are a couple places to let them swim and cool off and it's not usually verybusy with foot traffic.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
