We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Newhall Pass Open-Space North Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring trails for hiking and mountain biking plus overlooks of the surrounding mountains.
What runners say about Newhall Pass Open-Space North Trailhead
“I probably shouldn't praise this place too much because lots of folks don't know about it yet, but it is beautiful and pretty wild.”
We hiked to the highest point and came back down, about 3 miles round trip. The ascent is relentlessly uphill and steep with about 800ft of gain. Some parts of the road are fairly steep and will slow you down.
Lots of trail options here. If you go immediate left out of parking you'll be taken up a narrow ascent that at least the part I completed, was interesting and worthy of your time. It goes a ways, probably 3.5 to 4 miles up and back. Hugs the hills and winds up them along the 5 and The Old Road.
Awesome trails for hiking and mountain biking. These do get steep and somewhat technical for riding but I am 76 and manage it so you can too.
Short hike thru oak trees. View of 5 and 14 freeway interchange at top. Steeper grade.

“The trails are both a little steep for a Newby like me, but worth the stop as a part of my "getting back in shape" project.”
