Confirmed from North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Peaceful state park featuring hiking trails and a scenic gorge with swimming holes.
What runners say about North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park
“It has everything beautiful clear water, waterfalls great workout , amazing views, and found a cave.”
“Plenty places to stop and cool off or just enjoy the day at with kids, pets, family or find a quiet place to reconnect with nature.”
“It’s an easy hike in and out (as long as you stay along the river trail and don’t take one of the less traveled trails away from the river and up the mountain).”
We started at the Barker Camp Trailhead at the end of Barker Camp Road. Interestingly enough, it's NOT labeled on Google Maps and I think I'll keep it that way so it's not overly crowded. So, whoever sees this review, this is your secret to keep as well!
Might be my new favorite hike. It has everything beautiful clear water, waterfalls great workout , amazing views, and found a cave. All within 2 miles. I can not love this park enough. I can't wait to hike it allllll!!!!
Great place to hike, swim and explore nature!! Arrive early or late evening to get a good parking space. Weekends during the summer and holidays are busy. Hike to the Strip Falls Mine and other trails.
So beautiful. The water was so refreshing & clear. Very well maintained park If you have younger kids, just know there are a lot of roots. There are small swimming holes all along the trail that you can stop in and swim. Our teenagers of course wanted to make the trip count, so we hiked to the Blue Hole.
