“Really great clean trail!! Perfect for a run, walk, and birdwatching!”
On the drive home my wife and I stopped to take a walk on O&W Rail Trail. We often drove past this and watched it being built but it was our first time walking on the trail. We only walked four miles round trip. All of the part of the trail we walked on was paved.
Beginning at Washington Ave trailhead, the O&W connector trail is paved and very smooth, passing through some wetlands. The trail then T's into the O&W, which is older and not as smooth. The trail runs alongside (but not on) Rt 209 and can be very noisy. The paved section ends as the trail breaks off.
Easy parking for the trail. Paved trail for first ~3 miles. West exposure makes for a hot ride in the afternoon, best to go before 11.
