Confirmed from Oakshades Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“A good summer trail, as it s shaded for about 90% and flat all the way.”

A good summer trail, as it s shaded for about 90% and flat all the way. There are a few cross streets, so be sure to stop and look before crossing the few roadways. Also, if your caught on trail in the evening hours, make sure you have mosquito repellent and garlic!

★★★★★ — Peter , Apr 2025

Fun trail for cycling. Ride to Atlantic Highlands was so nice. About 12 miles to On the Deck to grab lunch. Very shaded. Bumpy in places due to tree roots buckling the trail, but manageable. Well traveled cyclists, runners and walkers. Enjoyable afternoon.

★★★★★ — Roberta , Aug 2020

Nice bike out and back about 25 miles in total. A lot of road crossing but fun and safe. Are at the marina for lunch.

★★★★☆ — Cooke , Jul 2023

Usually start the henry hudson trail here and ride up to atlantic highlands. About 10 miles 1 way.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
