Confirmed from Okehocking Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Okehocking Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (359 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“There are also a few historic buildings on the property that are well maintained.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“A very picturesque and varied preserve, with scenic mixtures of rolling fields, well-blazed mixed woods, and lovely meandering creekside trails.”

Just beautiful any time of day, especially at sunset. Off leash dog park, paved and unpaved trails. Nice little spots with cute little barns and things.

★★★★★ — Robert , Jan 2023

Great place for a quick hike with or without your dog. Creek access for pets as well. Mostly friendly people and little to no issues at the off-leash dog area. Two access lots allow for different parking options and never feels crowded.

★★★★★ — William , Jun 2023

Beautiful little park, lots of dirt trails and rolling terrains. Great for walks or runs. Lots of dog walkers on the trail. Gets buggy at dusk.

★★★★★ — Matthew , Aug 2021

Okehocking preserve is a great place to spend the day. A stream to explore is easily accessible from the parking lot for anyone not looking for a long walk or hike. Many trails to walk and hike, some shaded and wooded others are open through meadows.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“Unfortunately we couldn't visit the Stream until the very end of our long walk because there were people with dogs off-leash down there.”

Plan your run at Okehocking Preserve

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
