Confirmed from Ridley Creek State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ridley Creek State Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (3,445 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“The park is clean, beautiful, and full of good energy—great spot for families, joggers, and people whose dogs walk them instead of the other way around.”

🪧 well-marked 4 mentions

“There is much offered here at this state park and to learn more about this special place you will find their website is informative and easy to navigate.”

First, this is a huge park with lots of parking and picnic areas marked by numbers. So if you need to meet with a group, better share a specific spot or pin it on maps. Otherwise you may end up driving another 10+ minutes to meet your people.

Such fun trail it was. There was ample space for social distancing. The views of flowing water soothing all along the park trail. It was shady and would do great even on a sunny day. The parking was plenty and the picnic benches were great for post hike lunch / munch!

Beautiful area. Hadn't been here in about 38 years or so. The only drawback to this place is the parking situation. I tried getting here early but it didn't work. Had to park down the road on the shoulder. Otherwise, lots of trails and beautiful scenery.

This place was beautiful I used an app to walk the trails (all trails app). Be safe hike with a friend here, there are creepy ppl in these woods. (Minus 1 🌟 due to the guy in the woods who was following and watching me)

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Ridley Creek State Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
