Confirmed from Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxing, riverside trail for walking, running and cycling, spanning the Bronx to Brewster.
What runners say about Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park
“Easy, beautiful, good for families, young kids, strollers, pets etc.”
A beautiful trail for walking, jogging and riding a bike. This trail starts in Croton and goes all the way down through the Bronx. I myself have gone from Croton to the Bronx both on foot as well as my bicycle. There are plenty of town that you go through where you can grab a bite to eat or something to drink.
we walked from Dobbs ferry to start of Tarrytown. it was a straight path walk and the trail breaks with street crossings. dog very happy
I walked the trail from the Keeper's house to the Lyndhurst estate. The trail was scenic and peaceful.
Great hike. Easy, beautiful, good for families, young kids, strollers, pets etc. Just perfect.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
