Confirmed from Old Fort Yargo's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Historical site with a park for hiking and fishing, plus swimming, a cabin, and a lake.
What runners say about Old Fort Yargo
“Nicely maintained historical property.”
“Beautiful cabin with detail workmanship of the time period, you can tell they have done a great job in maintaining the authenticity and feel of the place.”
An absolutely beautiful and peaceful place to visit. We went for a six mile hike and loved it. We will be back the next time we are in Georgia. The lake is peaceful and beautiful. You can float slowly and relax in a boat. You can fish too. They have a nice historical building too.
This is a really cool piece of history! The cabin was moved from its original placement in Winder, which at the time was called Jug Tavern. However, there are no really shaded areas around the fort.
Awesome trails to run and mtn bike. Cool historical things to look at. Beautiful park.
Pretty cool place to learn about history, hike, and fish. Nothing crazy though.
