Confirmed from Olympic National Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
922,000-acre park featuring snow-covered mountains, lush rain forests & dramatic Pacific coastline.
What runners say about Olympic National Park
“The setting is stunning — crystal clear water, mountain views in the background, and plenty of space along the shoreline to just relax.”
“What I didn’t like was how crowded some of the popular spots got, which took away from the peaceful atmosphere.”
This is such a fantastic park. it is very large and has multiple entrances that most of them are seasonal. Be sure to double check if they are open and what type of year. The rainforest were beautiful as we came in November and it was very wet and chilly.
This is probably the most unique National Park I have been to. There are vast terrains that will make any outdoor lover happy. The coastal areas are great and vast. The tide pooling is the best I've seen in Washington. The rainforests feel alive and teaming with life. It almost gives a jurassic Park vibe.
We spent the whole day at Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park with our grandkids, and it was absolutely wonderful. The setting is stunning — crystal clear water, mountain views in the background, and plenty of space along the shoreline to just relax.
The most magical place I've ever been in my life. Highly recommend Beach 4 if you would like to experience tide pools! You have to walk up/down hundreds of stairs to get to the beach of Beach 4 but if you are physically capable of doing it, it feels like a once in a lifetime experience.
Trail conditions & character
“It feels like you’re doing three different trips in one, we went from a rainy, mossy rainforest to mountain views, then ended the day at the beach with sea stacks and sunsets.”
“What I didn’t like was how crowded some of the popular spots got, which took away from the peaceful atmosphere.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
