Confirmed from Open Space Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Open Space Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (8 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Whatever the weather is like, this is an excellent place to Mt. Bike, hike or run. Just shut the gates at each end, so the cows do not get loose.

★★★★★ — T-Mobile , Dec 2020

Wide open space filled with golden grasses, the occasional trail, and a reservoir. Really pretty against the backdrop of Colorado's front range!

★★★★★ — Brian , Feb 2021

Nice if you want to go for a walk on a nice trail. Can go for miles, goes by pounds, farmland, and a resivor. If i don't want to drive to a trail. This is the next best place!

★★★★☆ — Kristine , Jun 2025

This is an easy hike for those resting days. If you do it in the morning and have the opportunity to see the sunrise you be amazed by its beauty.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
