Confirmed from Otto Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded nature preserve featuring easy-to-follow hiking trails for walkers and their pets.

“Trails are well marked, nice rolling trail with a couple steeper climbs.”
“Definitely family friendly and so beautiful!”
Well maintained, prestine, path. Old growth trees worth the trip. Warning: Parts of orange path get quite steep in places.
We have a cottage across the street a little ways and love having Otto Nature Preserve so close by! Enjoyable for family hikes with the kids and dogs. Just went for a walk on the holiday weekend with 5 kiddos ages infant - 12, 5 adults and 2 dogs and we all had a great time. We did the outer loop which is 1.5 miles.
This nature preserve is new to the area and is a great addition. There are two paths depending how long you want to hike. The paths are in the woods and are easy to follow. I've been here a couple times and love it.
Great hike in a mature dune forest. Rolling trails with interesting views. Some steep climbs near the end on the way back to the ample parking area that also has a porta potty if needed.

“The end is quite an incline but it's a good workout and my son even made it and he tires easily due to a medical condition.”

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
