Confirmed from Owl's Roost Trail, Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Owl's Roost Trail, Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway
“Mostly in the shade, around the lake, I almost always get to see deer and beautiful birds.”
This trail is beautiful but extremely rooty. Make sure you wear hiking boots or trail shoes. Also download the All trails app and if you can get the premium version it would be better. My phone died and I got turned around near the end. Thankfully kind strangers helped direct me back to my lot I parked.
This trail is great and all the trails nearby are too. Apparently the map marker is misplaced and the trails are getting some poor reviews due to that. There are lots of parking along the A&Y, and Bur-Mill is the spot to park for the A&Y or Owls Roost.
Great for walking, and if your feeling adventurous there are trails branching off the paved walkway. It's a little too holly for novice roller skaters, ask me how I know.
Owl's Roost is a wonderful hiking and mountain biking trail located in Bur-Mill park, Greensboro NC. Walk along the lake and relax for a bit.
