We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Peebles Island State Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“You don't have to wait too long to see a resident eagle, and there are some nice easy walking trails.”

We all have that one friend or person in our lives that's all, "I don't like to hike, who walks for fun?" -- always complaining about how much their legs hurt or they are out of breath... That was me, I was that friend. However, Peebles was the first place to change my mind about hiking.

Beautiful park! The parametre trail is just 2 miles and a fairly easy walk but with stunning views over cliffs! The best part about it though was the wildlife. Giant carp and snapping turtles in the water below, and deer eating blackberries in the forest.

What a treat to have such a space right in my "back yard" ... the trails are always well maintained, and any of the staff I have encountered, be it at the booth, the welcome center, or on the grounds - have all been pleasant and easy to deal with.

Looking around the area for something to do, I came upon this island. Saw a picture of a waterfall and had to check it out. It was a very nice day out and a lovely 2 mile walk all the way around. The man made waterfalls were small but nice. There was a huge bald eagles nest with 2 eagles in it. No bikes or skateboards.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
