Confirmed from Pequonnock River Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Miles of hiking trails in a deep valley along a scenic river that was once a water company reservoir. The Trails run from Bridgeport to Newtown, utilizing grants from the State to develop the trails as part of a national program to utilize historic railroad beds as walkways and bicycle paths.

Good place to park if you're riding the rails to trails stretching from Beardsley Park in Bridgeport to the lumber yard in Newtown.

amazing fall day today - cloudless sky!. I parked at the north end of the trail on Swamp Rd by Interstate/Lakeland Lumber. there's room for maybe three cars. The path quickly takes a right and if you come upon abandoned factories you missed it - google maps is accurate - follow it.

A lovely trail that is fairly wide packed stone dust to the south and double wide gravelly becoming rocky/rooty single track to the north past Pepper street. Great for walking/running/mountain bike riding, a little bumpy at times for road bike riding, but if you're brave you can navigate it

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
