Confirmed from Pine Meadow Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Pine Meadow Trail
“The rough surface of the ground pulled at our ankles as we attempted this almost three mile ski to beautiful Pine Meadow Lake throught the foothills of the Catskills.”
We had a great time on this trail. A moderate challenging hike that is an out and back~2.5 miles to the lake and then back. Terrain was rocky at times. We saw hawks, birds, snakes, and lots of dogs. Visibly queer couple and felt safe the entire time.
If you are beginner you should stick to a red trail, otherwise it may turned pretty tough. It’s wonderful lake and forest in general. To crowded at Labor Day.
My group got lost a few times because it's easy to miss a marker and go the wrong way. It could be also that we were distracted by the blood thirsty moquitoes everywhere! Make sure to bring bug repellant! Mine was a natural one without DEET so I had to reapply constantly.
Great trail, takes about an hour and a half to get to the lake. It was in the paper so lots of people know about it and it is quite populated. But there is super cool things to see...the tree that is a bench, the broken bridge where my friend Harris fell on his face, some elevation changes but nothing serious.
