Confirmed from Portland Park & Recreation's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Popular destination, featuring baseball fields, soccer pitches and picnic tables. Relaxed venue for recreation via swings, playgrounds and walks. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
What runners say about Portland Park & Recreation
“They have a well-maintained paved walking trail, a disc golf course, and a storybook trail amongst other great features.”
Go here every Tuesday and occasionally Sunday. The parking lot and walk trails were just sealed and marked. Much cleaner appearance now. There is a clean restroom near ball fields and a older one near playground. Fantastic place to get your exercise and walk your dog.
This park has a lot of new playground equipment. It also includes a great walking loop and lots of interesting history to explore. It's part of the Daniel Boone Wilderness trail. Which he established with his trailblazers and includes a 200 mile trail through the Cumberland Gap of Virginia, to Kingsport, Tennessee.
A gem for Portland. They have a well-maintained paved walking trail, a disc golf course, and a storybook trail amongst other great features. Great Park!
This park has a lot to offer. For me the perimeter path is used for exercising. Used to run, but the hips have me walking now. Have a look at the nearby historical school house while you're there. The library is near the tall flag pole.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
