Confirmed from Prescott National Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“If you like beautiful ponderosa pine forests in the mountains with spring feed creeks and abundant wildlife, you'll love Prescott national forest.”

Beautiful dispersed camping 5 minutes from the main road, Hwy 260. Clean campsites with plenty of room in between. You can hear some neighbors at night but it's not too bad.. The weekend is busy and during the week I was the only camper for about 1/2 a mile.

I do so enjoy camping in the forest and have done so for years. As of lately and it's probably just me? Now in the tent sites areas, there are getting to be more and more RVs. Running generators and noise in general associated to RVs, leveling and electric sounds.

Beautiful place to visit, live, camp, hike, explore the beauty of nature it's scenery and its wildlife. I live close to downtown prescott in the park avenue area and we see deer and other wildlife daily.

If you knew to the area or just haven’t done it yet there’s also the Butte loop go out to take the main road. Keep on the main road all the way it’ll take you out copper basin Road but halfway there is the lookout down skull Valley and Yarnell area. Beautiful scenery.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
