Confirmed from Pueblo River Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Pueblo River Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (282 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Beautiful scenery and well kept trails with plenty of access to the water.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“The trail is paved nicely for miles along the river which makes for a great view during a hike, bike, or skate.”

This trail is wide and concrete. You can walk the dog, ride the bike or jog if that is your thing. The water is easily accessible and you can pop off the trail and dunk your feet in the river if you are getting too hot. Or you can bring your kayak or tube and just float down the 1 mile ride. The water is calm and safe.

This is a beautiful activity to spend a few hours enjoying. The last few years so much has been done to the areas around the river and lake in pueblo. The conservancy district puts a lot of effort into cleaning and fixing up the area.

Despite being in Pueblo, this trail is a nice place to walk. The river and art murals, along with a nice paved path make a nice place to take a walk or ride a bike. A genius way to liven up otherwise eyesore river banks.

Incredible time biking, walking, and kayaking! Wave park is awesome! Highly recommended and bring a play boat or SUP! Each eave is different and probably one is better and different levels. We had an IK and several ww kayaks. Level was 1200 is I think. Super fun and great time!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 10 mentions

“The trail is quite long and it goes on both sides of the river, the other side is not water accessible but has a nice upper view of the kayaker coarse.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
