Confirmed from Ralph Stover State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ralph Stover State Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (529 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“If you're looking for hiking and very scenic views, this probably isn't your place.”

Can't believe there is a place like that so close to where I live. The high rocks trail is protected by a sturdy fence where it borders 150 foot drop offs, but would still make your stomach flip if you have the intelligence to realize how death defying being that close to the edge is.

We were looking for decent hiking fairly close to Malvern and stumbled upon this place online. It's really more for rock climbing, but you can go for a nice walk along the ridge too. The views of the gorge into the river at the beginning are really pretty. The trail we took went down to the river too.

★★★★☆ — Jacqueline , May 2020

We usually hike the high rocks but my son wanted to go down to Tohickon creek and see it up close. A perfect fall morning with the lot to ourselves except for one person fishing. There is a porta potty and a pavilion with picnic tables. There are picnic tables scattered around the creek as well.

★★★★☆ — Tara , Oct 2023

Great park for walking, hiking and climbing. 3 trails seem to follow the contour of the area in high rocks, one path hugs the edge of the cliffs, one about 10 yards from the cliff edge and finally a path about 30 yards from the cliff edge. Each path seems to have its own level of difficulty.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 16 mentions

“The views from the high rock portion of the park are spectacular and provide recreation for novice to professional rock climbers.”
