Confirmed from Randall Family Park & Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Clean park with grassy areas, multiple hammock stations and scenic river views.
What runners say about Randall Family Park & Trailhead
“Wonderful views and very clean, not many people present at the time I was there.”
“Gorgeous river views from the trail, nice gazebo area for picnics, and thoughtful playground layout!”
“There are also picnic tables in a nicely shaded area right next to the restrooms, and even a little path that loops around the park so you can go for a walk or go jogging.”
My partner and I love coming here to walk. If you do a loop around the path, starting from the very entrance, it's a little over a mile. Always well manicured and lots of grass area. There are several place to hang a hammock, or 5, and there a nice little recreation building I believe you can rent for parties.
Loveliest park in T-Town!!! Gorgeous river views from the trail, nice gazebo area for picnics, and thoughtful playground layout!!
This is the perfect place for a park. It’s right next to the river, on the “Northport side”, even though it is technically in Tuscaloosa. Beautiful facilities, a playground, picnic tables, grills, swings, and an awesome walking trail. You can even venture down near the river to get a better look.
Super nice new park on the north side of the Black Warrior river. Great place to take the Toonies for a walk or to get out and enjoy the day. Wide paved & lighted walking trail has great views right along the river. Park has big fields, picnic tables, playground, hammock stations, and a pavilion with restrooms.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
