Confirmed from Raven Run Nature Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Raven Run Nature Center

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (126 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“A beautiful hiking trail with many options for skill level.”

🪧 well-marked 4 mentions

“Nice network of trails, easy to follow and well marked.”

There is a portion of this that is boring and just for the kids. The west side is more of an adventure. Raven Falls is cool to see and it is an uphill hike back. They enforce the 4:30 close time with citations ... So plan accordingly. We guessed that the hike to the falls is a 5 mile round trip.

Nice network of trails, easy to follow and well marked. The highlight of the hike is definitely the Kentucky River Overlook. There were a couple of waterfalls, but they were not flowing very well at the time.

Nice place. When I first got there I was looking for the rest room witch is not near the parking lot. Then was off for my hike. I got a good 6 and a half mile in. There is a nice overlook of the Kentucky river. And a couple of nice water falls. The trail can be slick . I ended up on my back after slipping on a rock.

Best for longer hikes. The big Field and house near the front is not as interesting as hiking deep into the forest, going to the overlook, spring, waterfall and Mill. Lots of up and down hill. Tails are often a bit muddy so wear shoes that can stand it. Hiking sticks can be handy, not required.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
