Confirmed from Ridge Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ridge Lake Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (35 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Just want to note that yes this is a new park and Phase 1 was recently completed. Phase 2 will include the addition of walking trails, a playground and some other things. Give Sugar Hill a chance before posting negative reviews.

★★★★★ — Robin , Nov 2023

For those posting negative reviews because of lack of options, calm down. They just finished phase 1. Phase 2 and beyond will include playground, walking trails etc. Be patient.

★★★★★ — Chris , Feb 2024

2 dog parks, bathrooms, and fishing allowed under 16 years old no fishing license required. It's catch and release only. Beautiful trails and nice park.

★★★★★ — Patricia , Oct 2025

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 21 mentions

“Well the pond is full, and there are more phases coming, and the water in the dog park was shut off due to extremely cold Temps.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
