Confirmed from Ridge Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiker-friendly, hilly space featuring views, easy climbs and a variety of wildlife.
What runners say about Ridge Trail
“It's a beautiful trail, especially with the all of the dreaded water that has been falling from the sky recently.”
“Great trail for running or MTN biking or hiking with your dog in the winter.”
“Easy trail, watch for bikes, bring plenty of water.”
This is a great trail for just walking, running and mountain biking. I accessed the main trail from a small road that is paved which leads up to a black large gate with an open section. The road can he found near the tennis courts and the track/soccer field at Crafton Hills College.
This is a out and back trail. The trail ends at PRIVATE PROPERTY on Lakeview Rd and is inaccessible. However if linked with the 38Special trail or Grape Ave. there is access to the entire ridge of Crafton Hills Open Space Preserve. These trails are heavily trafficked by MTB, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Beautiful trail. We parked in the crafton hills college trailhead and ascent using the 3 hawks 1 mile trail. Theres a beautiful plateau on top overviewing the city of Redlands, Yucaipa and Mentone in the foreground of San Bernardino mountains.
Great views, wide path, nice view of wildlife, especially Hawks and mice... Great place to mountain bike.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
