Confirmed from Ritter Farm Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Great place to go and explore has a lot of different hiking trails to go on and this place also has horse trails too! Has a lot to offer and go explore!

My favorite outdoor spot in Dakota county! Wonderful birding (203 species have been seen here as of December 2022, I've seen 156 of them), lots of other wildlife! Please keep your dog on a leash if walking on the main trails! The dog park is the spot for off-leash dogs :)

One of the best areas to hike i have found in Minnesota, close to Burnsville anyway. It is a beautiful path with many turns so you can mage the hike longer or shorter as you see fit. It is well maintained, but you still feel immersed in nature.

Went down there a few weeks ago for a trail run and loved it. Lots of scenic trails that are great for running and hiking. Easy to get lost if you’ve never been there before so either go with someone who has, read the map/follow signs, or just go explore and figure the rest out as you go.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 13 mentions

“This park is the best we have found in the twin cities because there are so many trails for our dog to run on and explore.”

Plan your run at Ritter Farm Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
