Confirmed from River Mountains Loop Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking and biking area with desert views, as well as mountains and lakes.
What runners say about River Mountains Loop Trail
“One of the best bike trails we've ever been on super beautiful biking for our two e-bikes!”
I would certainly recommend this loop although it does need some maintenance work. And some of the paved trail closer to Henderson lake Las Vegas area goes straight up and down some pretty steep slopes so you can get quite a bit of a workout. Perhaps more than you bargained for.
This park is gorgeous. I recommend going in the early morning though, because depending on the time of year, it will get VERY hot. It is a desert. Bring water. There is a restroom at the entrance, a few trails to hike on, and long winding bike trails to ride on.
The entire 32 mile loop is used for training by Tour de France cyclists as its degrees for up & down hill are not by accident. They're designed so you can never gain enough momentum to entirely propel you up the next hill. For the rest of us, the trail is well built, maintained & accessible.
I haven't completed the whole loop yet, but this is our go to biking trail because you're away from automobile traffic and there's 34 miles of freedom. We normally stage at the Henderson area off of Lakeshore Road.
