Confirmed from Owl Canyon Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly hiking zone with trails climbing down into a steep, rocky canyon featuring slot canyons, tunnels and a lake.
What runners say about Owl Canyon Trailhead
“Gorgeous views, friendly people on trails and so many different areas to explore!”
“Definitely be ready for a hike, not for someone looking for easy trails just to casually walk on.”
“Dog friendly please pick up after your dogs keep it clean”
I listened to others and went left at the fork, please do so, if you rather descend down the scramble versus ascend. But download the offline maps, you will lose service. It was very helpful because we got off trail and the app gave us a notice saying we were off trail.
Many scenic trail options. Beautiful area. Steep trailhead down the canyon and over a couple small hills and "keep to the left and follow the trail through the rocks to the tunnel" we were told by another hiker and it was perfect in duration and scenery. Fun hike with more beauty around every corner.
What an awesome hike! Well marked trail w/ an occasional spot wiped out from the washes during the monsoon season...Very unique area & doable for all levels of fitness. We spiced it up by venturing into several additional canyons & bouldering. Fun fun fun.
Great short hike from wet lands to slot canyon. Pretty easy hike. Some hills but mostly sandy trail. Dog friendly please pick up after your dogs keep it clean
