Confirmed from River-to-Ridge Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Certainly a beautiful hike that is about 4 miles out and back from the parking lot to the Skyline trails.”

If you follow Google Maps to the River-to-Ridge Trailhead off of CA 221 there is no where to park. Parking is in the Kennedy Park on the west side of CA 221. From the parking lot off Steblow Drive, the trailhead is just a .3 mile walk.

I did a trail run, it's about 8 miles minimum to get in the park, do a bit and run back. You can make it plenty longer and the views are great. I parked at the formal garden, about a .25 jog from the trail head. It had a portapotty. The trail allows for MTB. There is a self pay station when you get into the main park.

Great trail here in Napa. If you like birding, there are a lot of varieties along this trail. Great for walking or biking. Great way to get out in nature and take in the sites.

This is my favorite hike in Napa! It’s a very beautiful trail and I always see wildlife such as turkeys, rabbits, or deer while I’m hiking. I definitely recommend this trail.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
