Confirmed from River's Edge Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about River's Edge Trail
“River's Edge has great views of the river.”
Super fun trail through town, out of town, all along the river. Most all of the trails are paved, but there are a few single track sections.
The best trail that I have ever been on. Beautiful, well maintained, and lasting.
Paved trail along the river in Great Falls. We were able to ride it to Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and Rainbow Falls. Could use a few signs at intersections, but mostly a great path with sights along the way.
A very active colony of swallows, nervous rabbits and large, lazy carp were all in evidence on our walk today...easy, winding trail that 😀 helps you enjoy God's creation!
Trail conditions & character
“Good trail network, lots if benches and good views along the Missouri River.”
“Most all of the trails are paved, but there are a few single track sections.”

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
