Confirmed from Riverside Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Urban space with trails for hiking and biking, playgrounds and an ecology center.
What runners say about Riverside Park
“Nice park that’s well maintained in the city along the river.”
“It is gorgeous in the summer when it is lined with wildflowers upon wildflowers and you can hear the river flowing just beyond the trees.”
Beautiful space especially to bike or walk around. The fall leaves make a perfect cover if you need to spitefully kick your partner down and bury the body. Or you could also just enjoy it together! The Urban ecology center does programs with the schools nearby so you might see groups or kiddos on scavenger hunts.
A great area to go for walks, relax and enjoy the outdoors. Also a nice spot to cast a fishing rod and enjoy the river.
Riverside park is a favorite to visit for sure. It is gorgeous in the summer when it is lined with wildflowers upon wildflowers and you can hear the river flowing just beyond the trees. I love that there is a trail that is specifically for discovery for kids. Children in the city really need a place like this.
Loved it!! My husband, brother, and I wanted to hit some trails that none of us have been to yet, and Riverside park was great! Located on the east side on the Milwaukee River. Highly recommend!!!
Trail conditions & character
“It is gorgeous in the summer when it is lined with wildflowers upon wildflowers and you can hear the river flowing just beyond the trees.”
“We loved the stone arch, the many paths to follow, the routes along the river, the elevation changes and even Riverside Park itself.”
“The trail is paved by the arch and then you go down a decline to a more rugged path.”

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
