Confirmed from Riverview Wildlife Refuge's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Flat trail through a marsh that’s home to a variety of birds such as herons and eagles.
What runners say about Riverview Wildlife Refuge
“It had really good marshy areas for seeing different birds, and was also just a very relaxing place to walk my dog”
A nice hike that takes you to one short trail which gives you access to the river after descending two small stair cases. Other than the river Access this is predominantly just a short hiking trail that allows dogs, leashes required. There are 2 benches in the park to sit and rest if needed.
Wonderful little day hike, very flat, and opened, accessible to river.
Interesting trail. Very small parking spot by the entrance to the waste treatment plant. Lots of birds. I doubt that it ever gets crowded. Nice level walk. Not very many views of the river but some. The trail looks like it continues on into town but I didn't try it. Next time.
Nice walk but hard to find where it loops and makes 2 miles. Not much shade in the early afternoon. Some benches, no restroom.

“nice birding, lovely river views, not too crowded most days.”
“I would recommend wearing some sort of boots because the trails can get really muddy.”
Plan your run at Riverview Wildlife Refuge
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
