Confirmed from Rockport Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Rockport Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (61 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“Trail is mostly shaded with great views of the mountain and the river.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Great place to see two waterfalls in easy walking distance of one another.”

Great place to see two waterfalls in easy walking distance of one another. The parking is at the top of the hill on busier days. The road to the trial is short but steep. If you are traveling with older persons you can ask the Ranger if you can drop them off at the bottom and then park your car up top.

I love it here. However, I didn't love the folks from out of town using the bike trail as a picnic ground. There were like 50 people clogging up the trail throwing baseballs and footballs, they had a domino table, grills, etc. I don't think this is what this area is designed for.

This is great trailhead to visit. From here you can head toward white haven or glenoko. Trail is mostly shaded with great views of the mountain and the river. They have public restrooms here as well. They also bring groups here for bike riding and hiking. I highly suggest you check it out you won't be disappointed. 👍👍😀

I only stopped by Buttermilk Falls and Luke Falls during the winter. Because it was so cold, there's was basically no one and the snow made the whole area look like a winter wonderland. It's pretty much just a walking trail to both of those falls so really easy to do.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
