Confirmed from Rocky Mountain Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

I love rocky mountain park, there are endless hiking trails you could explore all day, I don't want to spoil anything😁 I'll leave it as great surprise a wonderful place to bring your family or your significant other or anyone you want to share you time with if you stay into the evening you may catch a beautiful sunset.

★★★★★ — Jorie , Apr 2024

This is an incredibly wonderful trail for hiking or running and it's a beautiful slice of nature, right in the heart of the Patch in Turners Falls. The trail is easily accessible and often wide enough to drive. But more importantly, it is a level and enjoyable trek into the woods.

This is easily one of my favorite places in Greenfield. If you are looking for a simple and peaceful walk in the woods, this is definitely the place to go. The trails are simple and easy to fallow. Definitely a great place to bring the energetic children. Plus not a whole lot of people go here at once.

★★★★★ — Kyle , May 2018

Lots of land to sit and bird watch or walk the dog. Enjoy the sunrise or sunset. Beautiful place for a October stroll with the loved ones. May everyone have a peaceful time there. One downside to the tower was the profanity of writing, or painted. I enjoyed climbing to the top and the views up there.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Rocky Mountain Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.

Posted hours for the park or trailhead. Gates and parking lots often close earlier than the trail itself, and seasonal hours change — worth a check before a pre-dawn or after-dark run.
