Confirmed from Roswell Riverwalk Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Roswell Riverwalk Trail

well-maintained 5 mentions

“The boardwalk and trails are well maintained.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“The wind along the Chattahoochee River for great views and signage to point out the historic significance of the region.”

🏃 great for running 6 mentions

“It’s been my favorite place to walk and run for a very long time.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“Super scenic and not crowded if you go early enough on the weekends.”

Nice walk. Doesn't directly connect to anything as far as amenities are concerned, however, so best to figure out a good route to get back to your starting point. You can theoretically walk for miles, depending on where you begin, though the most worthwhile area are the wetlands closer to the beginning.

I was in the area and wanted to walk a different trail and I must say that this is a much better walking trail than what is down in South Metro Atlanta. It was relaxing walking next to the river.

★★★★★ — Nafis , Jun 2023

Just beautiful and clean...there's canoe rentals. With many other activities you can do biking, fishing, exercising, hiking and bird watching.

★★★★★ — Mia , May 2022

Roswell Riverwalk trail is several miles of scenic trails along the Chattahoochee River. The trail is wide enough to bike on, though in the weekends it can get a little congested but no worse than the silver comet trail or even the ATL belt line.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
