Confirmed from Rust Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Riverside leisure space featuring picnic tables and playgrounds, plus concert stages and paths.
What runners say about Rust Park
“This was a beautiful expanse of lawn before a performance stage on Ojibway Island in the Saginaw River.”
Great Place to Walk along the Riverside, a Great & Easy Path that goes on for Miles. Lots of Wildlife I have Seen from Geese, Beavers, Birds, I Even seen a Eagle the other Day. I go walking the Path there almost everyday. A Great Place to Hang Out, go Fishing or have a Picnic on a Sunny Day. 🌞
Nice park right in the middle of Saginaw. One lap around the park is about a half mile or so, and you can easily walk along the river up the the farmer's market. There are always people out enjoying the park when I'm there.
Small but lovely park. I took my dog for a walk here in winter, so it was mostly empty, but it looks like the island is mostly intended for concerts in the summer. The view is lovely and the entire island is well manicured. Additionally, river-front bike paths go through one end of the park and out the other.
Great place to relax while the kids play. Nice park with lots of high quality playground equipment, and tons of space to run around. Nice views and pavilions too. We've had very enjoyable family reunions here too.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
