Confirmed from Thomas Twp. Nature Center & Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Thomas Twp. Nature Center & Preserve
“The nature center is amazing though, just beautiful inside and out.”
The preserve is still in early development, it just opened two weeks ago. However, it is a nice place to visit for a moderately easy 1-mile by round-trip hike to the observation deck overlooking a field of sunflowers. The nature center is amazing though, just beautiful inside and out. Take the kids!
Very peaceful, nice trails. Didn't get to go inside but had a great walk on the trail met a few nice people
It's wonderful to see the Township preserve some of the natural beauty I grew up with. This has been in production for years, and to see it come to life is just amazing. Lynda is the most wonderful woman and you can feel her passion for the establishment the moment you walk in the door.
Very intresting you can walk the river on one side and a farm field on the other side with wildlife and fishing. It is free.

Plan your run at Thomas Twp. Nature Center & Preserve
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
