Confirmed from Ruth Edwards Nature Center in Lowell Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

I went to check out the trails that Lowell has to offer today. The two park rangers I met were very friendly and helpful! They gave me advice about which trails might be best and warned me about the mosquitoes!

This is a cool spot to come with the grandkids or take a walk with a loved one, or throw a boat in the river, it's a beautiful drive full of nature sounds, we always see a deer to and plenty of birds

★★★★★ — Donna , Jun 2019

Nice State Park with the winding roads down a long forested hill to the Rock River below. This is the same Park where President and actor Ronald Reagan was a life guard during his youth. It is said that many young damsels faked drowning to be rescued by this handsome young man.

★★★★★ — Michael , Dec 2021

Great trials to walk or bike in this splendid natural wooded environment with lots of wildlife to enjoy seeing, from birds to animals to insects. There are friendly park rangers to assist you and staff at the nature center- including a botonist do guide you with interesting information about the park's natural wonders.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
