Confirmed from Sac River Mountain Bike Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Sac River Mountain Bike Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (196 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“The path itself is well-maintained, scenic, and enjoyable for walking, running, or biking.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“There is opportunity for more signage to help navigate the trails but overall this area is beautiful and I will be visiting again.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“To me, the trailheads are hard to find, but once you're on the trail, they're clearly marked.”

Family morning bike ride - blue trail. Roots and rocks, but a great ride. Was challenging for us advanced beginners and my 11 year old. I don't think my 8 year old could have handled it. Saw the river, deer, turtle, and a small bobcat? (I think).

★★★★☆ — Kellee , Jun 2023

To me, the trailheads are hard to find, but once you're on the trail, they're clearly marked. I hiked the blue trail. I would come back to hike the other trails.

★★★★☆ — Christine , Sep 2024

This place is a hidden gem for Springfield residents. It's got a wide variety of trail lengths up to 5 miles that each go into the forest following a river. While mainly used for biking, these trails are great for hiking and far surpass Lake Springfield or any other park in the area.

★★★★★ — Thomas , Jun 2020

Took a 2 mile as we didn't have a lot of time before it got dark. The trail had a good rut in it from mountain biking but it is still wide enough to comfortably hike. We past some good scenery of the stream/river and saw some wild life towards the end.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 6 mentions

“You just start walking towards the woods from the little gravel parking lot and the trailhead will be right there.”

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
