Confirmed from San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature reserve & hiking spot featuring trails, local wildlife & scenic views of the SF Bay.

“Very calm and relaxing spot close to San Rafael, recommended for a road trip or a picnic outside of the city.”
Beautiful views hiking the shoreline trail in the China Camp area in san Rafael. There is a use fee of trail. You can pay on the trail by the Ranger station. It appears to be less expensive to park in provided parking lots for 2 to 4 people in one car.
This is one of the most serene places in the Bay area to be. Fresh air and off the beaten path but so easy to find. Highly recommend seeing the park with your own eyes. Spring time is especially pretty. The captures are in early spring 2019. Nice drive off the 101 in Marin County.
China camp has some great for trails! There’s tons of single track and multiple switchbacks to keep you on your toes.
China Camp... one of the gems of Central Marin. Beach- yes. Hike- yes. Mountain Biking- yes. History- yes.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
